My students need various art supplies from markers, to clay and canvases to tap into their artistic talents and share those talents with their classmates and our school.
I am a 5th grade teacher with a diverse group of students. They speak many different languages and come from various socioeconomic backgrounds. Although they are all different, they all have a great desire to learn and express their creativity in a variety of ways.
These student have a great need and desire to express themselves through the arts.
They enjoy learning about various academic subjects and are always excited to expand their knowledge of the arts.
Our public school is small and has a diverse student population. Our multicultural atmosphere is wonderful for learning, and we are a California Distinguished School, recognized for outstanding achievement in education. My students enjoy learning and are very curious, eager and motivated. I am certain that with the addition of new art supplies will help ensure my students remain engaged in the curriculum.
My Project
I would love to have our students use the clay to create wonderful sculptures and use the mini canvases as well as easels to give my students exposure to creating personal artwork. The easels help the students be able to display their artworks and can be reusable from year to year. Lastly, the students need various markers to assist them with their artistic creations. Nothing messes up an art project/drawing like using an old, dry marker, right?
This particular project will help us understand all the different forms of expression and let the kids finish the year with fun and exciting crafts while still approaching this theme with the same intellectual rigor that we have all year.
