Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students are often pushed with intense rigor throughout the day and need time to express themselves in a creative way while cooling down. Using all the various art supplies such as paint markers, brushes, canvas, and watercolor supplies, will ensure that not only this class will participate in healing art time, but many classes in the future. Not all students connect with the drawing type of art, some need to create with physical things and build. For this reason, my art corner will legos, kinetic sand, and different building tools to allow those students to create in their own way.

My goal for this project is that kids will feel they have a space to go to when they are overwhelmed and need to calm themselves.

I believe using art will aid in this.

My students are a very special bunch this year who have various traumatic backgrounds. Having different ways to express themselves will be imperative to their growth. These students, especially, deserve something to make them feel set apart.
