Art, Literature, Mathematics... The Wright Three is...

My project needs 37 copies of "The Wright Three".

FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Sigler's classroom raised $755

"The Wright Three" is an wonderful book - and a really cool story - that is so rich with larger ideas and incorporates so many areas of curriculum that I believe it would be an asset to any upper grade classroom. The story is a mystery, which the kids love, but it also teaches kids about the architect Frank Lloyd Wright and his art. "The Wright Three? involves three kids who work together to save a threatened Wright building in their neighborhood. There are great subtexts to the story that involve ethical questions, the meaning of art, literal and figurative patterns in life and art, and seeing things from different points of view. There is also a character who uses pentominoes (a great connection to math) to make connections with elements of the mystery. This book references some other more contemporary art as well ("The Invisible Man" and the Hitchcock film "Rear Window"), making it even more rich with the idea of the Value of Art. I love to read great books, books that the kids actually like to discuss, with the entire class. I have two copies of "The Wright Three" in my classroom now and they are constantly checked out. A book like this, that integrates so many subjects, that stimulates so much discussion, and that is so fun to read, needs to be read in a whole group. Please help my class be able to read and discuss "The Wright Three" together. And, if you?re still not convinced, go pick up a copy and see for yourself how much fun you?ll have reading it.
