Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Title 1 schoo,l so many of my students live below the poverty level. My students have had limited exposure to the arts outside of school. In addition, our budget is very tight. It is hard to get a lot of money to spend on art supplies.
Many of my students are English Language Learners and/or have special learning needs.
Art instruction is very beneficial to them. They love having opportunities to explore their creativity in a hands-on way.
My Project
These books will make a big difference in my students learning. All students benefit from a lot of reading experience.
Art books are in short supply in my school.
The students need books that relate to the visual art concepts they are learning. They also need to learn about famous artists and illustrators, and art in the natural world. They are curious about art, and love browsing through the limited stash of books I already have. I can't wait to give them more to choose from.
Helping me to build an art library will serve all of my students, from grades 1 through 5. I appreciate your support.
