This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What I love about my students is the way they find connections with others. Our best art projects are the ones where they see themselves in something or someone else in the world.
My students are brilliant little thinkers.
Giving them stories to help them make these real-world connections will help their creative juices flow and give more meaning to the art they make.
My Project
Books play a huge role in the art room. It is through stories that students can find connections with different themes, artists, cultures, and events in history and the present day.
Students need to see themselves in stories in order to make connections!
The existing art library is very small and several books are outdated. The world is ever-changing, and the content we read needs to be up to date with events and themes that students are living.
A diverse library that includes all of the students' diverse identities will help students make deeper connections and be more inspired in their creative projects.
