Help me give my students art supplies like markers and paint during remote learning so they can continue to create with tactile materials and express themselves!
I teach all students grades pre-k to 8th grade including special education students! My students love to use hands on art materials. They are eager to learn and engage in art class each week. Right now our school is virtual learning. Nearly all of my students come from low-income households, magnify that by the challenges brought on by COVID-19, and many families do not have the funds to purchase school supplies to have at home.
Now that all my students are learning virtually it has become even more imperative that they have the balance of creating with their hands and expressing themselves.
Art gives them a way to build confidence, learn acceptance of others, encourage creativity, and build problem solving skills! Above all else it gives them an outlet to express themselves, which is incredibly important right now.
My Project
The materials and supplies I am requesting will be going to my students homes, pre-k through 8th grade, so they can continue their art education during remote learning. The majority of my students do not have access to art supplies at home so having these materials will allow me to incorporate a variety of lessons and keep their art education on track.
With students spending the majority of their days on computers learning virtually, these art materials will allow them hands on experiences that help develop fine motor skills and self expression.
The variety of materials I am requesting will allow students to participate in lessons about painting, collage, drawing, and sculpture! These art lessons are essential to my students development into successful, thoughtful, and creative young adults.
