My students are hardworking, creative, thoughtful young people that motivate me everyday. They inspire me to be the best teacher that I can. I learn from them all the time with their unique understanding of our world. We are in one of the largest school districts in the country, my students and fellow teachers face a variety of challenges. Our school is very large and because of that I am able to teach my dream subjects of art and sculpture. There is nothing I love more than witnessing my students discover clay and create large sculptural piece on their own for the first time. My students are kind, smart and creative, they constantly amazing me with the work they create and ways they express themselves.
My Project
These materials will allow my students to create artwork and sculptures from home. Instead of only learning about other artist's work, my students will use these materials so that they can actually create their own sculptures. I will demonstrate how to use the materials and the requirements for the projects we create through live instructions. We will also use our remote platform to share out, reflect and critique the sculptures that are created at home. Before COVID my students were able to make beautiful sculptures in our wonderful art room that had a wealth of communal supplies. Now that we are teaching and learning at home there is no communal or shared supplies. This makes it much more expensive to provide enough resources for every sculpture students to have the materials that they need to create beautiful artwork.
