My Students
My students range from grades pre-K thru grade 5. They are full of life and love to socialize. This will be the first time in my building that these children will have a visual arts class. When they learned about it, everyone was excited! There are many talented students at my school who will have the opportunity now, to grow their abilities and engage in school in a whole new way.
Art gives children the chance to express themselves like no other subject can.
The skills learned in art also transfer to academic subjects; helping our boys and girls to experience a richer, more well-rounded education.
My Project
These art materials will afford my students the opportunity to engage in art making, visual arts literacy, and a lifelong love of the arts. The different types of paper will allow my students to create paintings and drawings using a variety of media like, watercolor, acrylic and tempera paints, oil and chalk pastels.
Art will help my boys and girls make cultural and historical connections in a way no other subject will.
Through art, children gain capacities to problem solve, interpret and analyze critically, and collaborate with their peers. Having the opportunity to explore self expression through art is part of the tools our students need to succeed.
