My 8th grade computer art students are a highly motivated group this year. My school is a Title One school which means that the majority of my students come from low income households. Many of my students also have special needs and are brand new to this country. Despite the many obstacles that my students face they they are super enthusiastic about learning. They all strive to succeed and truly appreciate everything that is done for them. They are the best!
My Project
My computer art students will benefit from having iPads because they will be able to draw and take pictures with them to create their artwork.
Having access to iPads will help them when they are creating their artwork.
It will allow them to take, edit and send pictures of their drawings, themselves, their school and their community. Having access to such a wonderful device will allow them to create art projects that are personal more meaningful to them.
My yearbook class students will also be able to take high quality pictures using the Nikon camera of their 8th grade activities for the yearbook. They will also use the camera to take pictures of themselves for a self portrait project.
Once they have created their work they will have the ability to print out their artwork to share it with their peers and their family. Their art will be able to be displayed throughout the school in color and black and white.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
