My students need 8 art supplies and 2 movies to inspire and to create a final project documenting what they learn about sustainability traveling around NYC.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Kelsch's classroom raised $357
This project is fully funded
I am a Social Studies teacher who works with students in an alternative school that gives teens a second chance. I teach primarily juniors and seniors, who have so much to learn about this subject.
My students seem to be stuck in this bubble called N___ City. It is very hard for them to think outside of the box and to think about the future when they are sometimes not sure how they will make it day to day. With a variety of field trips I hope to expand their minds and force them to ask questions and of course learn something new!!
What I need is very basic; two films and art supplies to help document their experiences in the field and to reflect what they have learned in this class. Our class and final project will give my students a chance to teach the rest of our school what they learned, what they think is important and how our school can help actually make a difference in the environment in their city.
This donation to our class project would make a profound difference in these students' lives in many ways. Not only will it give us the tools to reach our students artistic and visual talents, but it will give them the power to teach others. Empowering them is the key to unlocking the confidence they seem to think they will never have in this crazy life.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
