Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Kindergarten is awesome! My students are very eager to learn more and more every day. They are extremely curious and they love to read! I am a Kindergarten, bilingual teacher at a school where most of our students are struggling readers and are one or more years below grade level in reading.

It is my number one priority to get my students reading on grade level, or above so that they are well prepared for first grade.

I am at a low socioeconomic school where many of our students have tremendous learning gaps. Many of our students have difficult home lives, so it is extremely important to provide them with a safe, caring, and positive learning environment.

My Project

I am hoping to be able to incorporate more art into all content areas for the upcoming school year. I am committed to providing my students with an engaging and rigorous environment that allows them to explore their learning in various ways. Teaching at a low socioeconomic school sometimes limits us in the materials that we are able to obtain.

My students will be able to use these materials in all subject areas because it is my goal to allow them to be more creative as they are learning.

They will be using these materials to create products for their everyday assignments and workstation activities. Foam shapes and dot paint will be used for math when counting and learning about shapes. Crayons will be used for everyday drawing and writing in all content areas. Ink pads will be used in our writing center. We always run out of glue sticks because we maintain journals due to the fact that it teaches them to be reflective and more organized! The tissue paper will allow them to create products and models in all content areas!
