Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love drawing! For many, it's the best way I can get them engaged in my class and learning about a difficult subject for them, chemistry.
Next year, I will be teaching in a small school devoted to visual and preforming arts.
My students come from a very tough background and have to face drugs, violence, gangs, poverty and teenage pregnancy everyday. Anything I can do to make my class engaging and exciting gets them here and helps them learn while staying off the street. I cannot wait to incorporate art on a daily basis to help students see the connection between something they love, art, and something they will grow to love with my help, chemistry.
My Project
The school has had practically no budget for basic school and art supplies for the past two years. How can I expect my students to draw without a place to sharpen their pencil? The various art supplies including construction paper, a printer, ink, markers, and scissors will be used by students to create professional looking posters for each unit we study. My printer in class is one of the only ones working in the school- so kids are always asking to print out their homework assignments, and its constantly breaking down because of it. This printer/copier will allow more students to be able to be prepared for turning in my lab reports and printing pictures for their projects.
This donation will be a HUGE help for next year as I move to project based learning for my students.
Please know that my students will be so very appreciative of your kindness. Thank you for your generosity and consideration!
