This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year I started teaching High School Art at a Title 1 district. The majority of my students are at or below the poverty level but these are some amazing students. It's been my mission since starting to give these students opportunities and encouragements in the arts. So, I started this high school's very first chapter of the National Art Honor Society and Art Club. Out the gate we had over 40 students sign up for Art Club and we've been able to induct 15 members to NAHS. Since this is the first year for both, and we are a Title 1 school, it means we have zero funds. My art honor society officers are wanting to give back to their community and it's very exciting. We hope the supplies we have requested will allow NAHS and Art Club to create art cards for several of the assisted living facilities in our community.
We want share our love of art and these supplies will allow us to do just that!
Although we have some supplies like paint and pastels already, we do not have cards, envelopes, alcohol markers, drawing pens, and sealants for the cards. Your donation will not only be helping our students give back but you will also be bringing joy to hundreds of elderly. Thank you for your consideration in helping these amazing students and our community assisted living residents.
