This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

So, you probably remember a time you watched a boring history video in class, right? These videos are a fun and interesting way for our gifted students to learn about art history. The video clips make art and history fun and entertaining. They are hilarious.

Our students come from 4 different schools and several private schools.

Our gifted center pulls from are Title I schools and the budget keeps getting tighter and tighter each year. That's why I created donors choose projects on a yearly basis to continue to enrich, challenge and inspire these bright students.

My Project

I am teaching the gifted students "Art History" this year. Every year, we teach the 10 gifted skills through a theme. This year, our gifted students are learning about the different artists through a time-line. I incorporate a lot of technology into my teaching and pull up video clips on the SmartBoard for the students. We found a website and viewed the video clips in all of our gifted classes. The clips of the videos are very short and the kids absolutely love them. The students were asking questions such as, "That's it?!" They were asking me if they could see the entire video and want me to try and purchase the DVDs so they can watch them. We are going on several field trips to some art museums around our city this school year and it would be a great time to show those DVDs on the bus as well as incorporating the clips into my lesson plans on each artist. I know my students would be thrilled if they could watch these DVDs as they are so funny and engaging.

The students will be challenged and inspired if given the opportunity to view these wonderful art history materials this year.

The videos are a great way for me to teach art history and a motivating and fun way for my Gifted students to learn about art history. I strongly hope you consider donating.
