This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are high poverty, high need population in northern California. Our school has no extra funds and we are without many things. Kindergarten is a time to explore and realize who you are who you would want to be and to feel safe. Unfortunately, almost 40% or more of my students are without many supplies.
It breaks my heart, and at times I excuse myself and try to hold in the tears.
As a teacher there is so much I can do, and there is nothing. These children are so thankful, so wonderful and all they need is someone to believe in them. Therapeutic play can serve in individual growth purposes. In childhood, therapeutic play serves both social and personal function. Children who have had traumatic experiences can work out their demos encountered by their childhood experience as well as many challenges and anticipations of the future. My students come from a varied of backgrounds and countries, I am so lucky be their teacher.
My Project
We are requesting your loving donation of many colors of play dough and supplies.I have seen immigrant students some from the poorest countries work out their new surrounding through play clay. Through the power of play clay, these students will gain sharing passions, work out problems perhaps they can never share. I am asking for these materials to help create a social emotional center.
As a mother, I am astounded at their resilient nature and how in their short five years they have come to be so powerful.
Please help what you can knowing for years to come these play items will go through many years and help so many children in need. I want to thank you for your donation no matter how small, you make a difference. These materials will go a very long way and help children with many issues of abandonment. The power of play helps a child in so many ways. Play clay is so essential in kindergarten, it helps their growing tactile curiosity.
