My students need easy change frames for displaying their artwork, lights to showcase their work and white paint to paint the panels we will hang the frames on.
I teach art in a low income/high poverty school district. My students face a variety of challenges everyday and I am in awe of their perseverance and tenacity. Everyday they walk into my classroom and can channel their energy into something creative.
It has been my dream since I started teaching to have a real gallery space to display my students beautiful and creative artwork.
The excitement and pride my students have when I display their artwork for others is amazing to see. If they had a "real" gallery I know they would be so proud.
My Project
This year I am fortunate enough to have a large art room with space for a gallery to display student work. We already have some materials donated to us, but your generous donations will help us be able to actually build the gallery. We will use the paint to paint the wall panels white so the artwork takes center stage. The frames are the kind that can be easily opened so artwork can be changed on a regular basis, making it easier to include a larger population of students." Finally the lights will ensure that it feels like a real art gallery, showcasing the fine artistic talents my students have.
