This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a group of the smartest little learners in my entire school! They come from different backgrounds; some ride the bus in from far away neighborhoods and some live across the street. We are a blended Special Education and Bilingual classroom within a school that is 90%+ free and reduced-price lunch.
Pre-kindergarten is one of the most important grades in school.
It is the time when students get hooked on education. The best way to hook them is with adapted materials that will allow them to learn in an individualized way.
My Project
Art is an integral part of pre-kindergarten; it is the first subject in which students can excel by just being who they are. Taking crayon to paper and expressing what they feel, what they see, and what they want helps students develop into lifelong learners.
The materials we are asking for will forge my students' creativity by teaching them from the first moment they pick up 'pen and paper,' that what they have to say matters and that they can say it in style.
The tempura paint will help students be more independent with painting materials (as it does not run). The 'How to Draw' books will lend a hand so that my students can begin to draw. The people color markers will help my students use real people colors to celebrate the diversity of people in their lives.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
