Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am asking for an assortment of materials for hands-on arts and crafts experiences. Fine line markers (in a variety of colors!) encourage careful coloring, tracing, and detail work. This is critical practice not just for young artists, but for fine motor development and learning basic drawing techniques. A variety of craft papers let children create mixed media projects, which supports taking one's time and developing arts projects over a series of classes. In this way, children develop persistence as well as a broader arts vocabulary.
When children explore the arts, they develop habits of mind that encourage lifelong learning: problem solving, considering different possibilities, collaboration, and questioning. With your support, my students will enjoy a year of student-directed arts and crafts.
