Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a low-income public elementary school in Los Angeles.
My students are smart, funny, kind, and have wonderful hearts.
In my classroom, it is incredibly important for them to have positive experiences that will influence the way they look at themselves, treat others, and develop a growth mindset for taking risks and learning. Many of my students face great challenges outside of school that they can't control. But what they can control is the learning and how they will succeed through hard work and determination. Even though they have challenges outside my classroom, they always bring their enthusiasm to learn and their drive to do better.
My Project
It is incredibly difficult to send all the colors of tempera paint to all my students. I'm not sure what home may look like, but painting involves brushes, paint, cups, water, and paper. That may be too much for some families.
I want my kindergartners to still be able to make beautiful artwork at home.
The dot art paint markers are perfect for remote learning. We'll use it for different art projects integrating science and social studies. We'll use them for letter formation. We'll use them to decorate the books we write. There are so many uses, but every family needs a set.
