This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A great artist lies in every first grader! I teach first grade in a high needs school with high academic standards.
Each year our students come to us needing experiences and hands-on activities to make Social Studies and Science come alive for them! Art is one way to keep kids motivated about a topic.
The art supplies I'm asking for will allow for a full year of directed drawing experiences for my students. What's directed drawing? It's when I draw on my example chart paper and the students follow my steps. They are amazed that they can draw portraits of Lincoln and Washington, life cycles of butterflies and frogs, holiday art for Vietnamese New Year and Cinco de Mayo. Every picture turns out different, and all students feel confident and proud of their work.
Your donation will make it possible for these great experiences to happen in a classroom full of excited first graders!
