My Project
I teach at a Title I school. We also have a high number of English language learners. My classroom is a special education inclusion classroom. Our students have been greatly impacted by COVID-19. I have several students who have never been to school!
These students seem to struggle a bit with focus. They lost time in previous grades which increases their attention stamina. They also seem to struggle with writing and art skills. I think with online learning students were using the keyboard more often than a writing utensil or art tool. They love art!! It will be nice to have these supplies to add more art to our curriculum.
Our school is also a very large campus. Classrooms are very spread out. Students need to walk outside to the cafeteria, office, bathroom, library, or anywhere else on campus. When it is raining they often come back soaking wet. Not only is this a huge distraction to learning, but they also come back cold and uncomfortable.
This classroom project was brought to life by Hawai'i State Department of Education.
