Bean bag chairs are a useful tool for providing a safe and sensory learning environment that all learners could benefit from in my art room at our school. Specifically bean bags provided proprioceptive input for learners on the autistic spectrum or with sensory processing disorders. Flexible seating is the practice of allowing and providing many seating options for my art students. This means having different types of seats like bean bag chairs in our cozy corner. In art there are many benefits of a flexible seating area, which includes choice, physical health, comfort, community, collaboration, commitment to learning, communication, sensory input, and fun for students in the art room grades pre-k through 5th.
