I teach students of low income/single-parent family homes. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. They like to move; they love to read and love lots of positive attention. The students in my classroom have a range of different abilities.
Living in low income/single-parent family homes may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may deprive them of life experiences many of us see as "typical".
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
My students love to explore and create art projects with a variety of materials. My students will use the craft tape to expand their art projects with this addition of a new material. My students love to create art for themselves, to take home and to give away to peers or adults. Creating art projects teaches them to use problem solving skills while using materials. It will also provide opportunities to work together with peers and to create art projects as a team.
My students will participate in activities using the tape through active learning, exploring their environment and engaging with materials and adults.
