Art During the Pandemic

My Students

My students are young learners, in pre-k and k, exploring and experimenting with a variety of art materials is essential in their development. Visual art helps my students develop fine motor skills, communicate, cognitive developmental skills, math skills, social skills, cultural awareness and language skills. Art is essential for my students! The Friendship School is a magnet school for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten aged children that partners with families to foster kindness and a life-long love of learning through exploration, curiosity, and leadership.

My Project

These art supplies will allow my young students to experiment with watercolor paints and oil pastels safely.

Due to Covid-19 students can not share art supplies which has greatly limited the supplies they can use in their art creations.

My students will practice grip making and fine motor skills which are essential skills in their development.

They can combine the two art materials to create watercolor resist paintings. It is their favorite media. They think it is magical when they can paint over their drawings to fill in just the background.

Safety for my students is my priority. Art is essential!
