My Students
Our students are serious artists. They tell me about their trips to art museums, bring in art they have made at home on their own, and excitedly create work that amazes me every day in our school's art room.
Our school is a neighborhood school in one of the largest urban areas in the country.
Our students come to school from the surrounding neighborhood as well as other parts of the city. Having a diverse group of students means that we have a lot of fun in art class. Our kids are serious about their art projects and tell me how excited they are to come to class. They learn from each other as we tackle new projects each year.
My Project
We need to restock our shelves for the fall. Art materials get used up quickly in a busy room. Nearly 200 students use the materials daily, and everything from crayons to glue sticks needs to be replaced. Students in our program learn drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, fiber arts and mixed media techniques.
I am requesting clay, pastels, watercolors and printmaking materials to replace the materials we used up this year.
These materials will be used to create works that highlight a variety of techniques, themes and time periods from art history. Science, history, writing, and math come together in a curriculum that introduces kids to art through a variety of memorable projects.
