Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For my second campaign I wanted to keep the momentum moving with some supplies I need to supplement those I requested for the year from the School district.
I just started teaching my 6-8th graders some basic 1-point perspective lessons, and based on their response and drawings I know we can expand on those initial lessons and eventually move into 2-point and 3-point perspective.
However, my students will need rulers to practice perspective regularly and help improve the conceptual skills they are developing.
My initial emphasis has been on drawing both because it is a fundamental skill that strengthens most other forms of art making, but many of my students have been asking “Mr. Scott, when will we get to paint?” Supplies from the district, including all new brushes to replace expand the entire stock of unusable brushes I had to throw out before the start of the year, should arrive towards the end of September. To supplement our soon-to-arrive paint supplies, I added some no-spill paint cups and holders so we can setup and cleanup more easily and minimize extra work for our friends on the custodial staff.
Lastly, I included some nice durable supply organizers for each of my classroom’s current work tables both to help organize and speed up supply distribution and collection at the beginning and end of class, and to help give my students a sense of ownership as we continue to practice respecting our supplies and our fellow students who use them.
