Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a kindergarten teacher at Tenderloin Community Elementary. At our school we serve a population of mostly second language learners. Learning at all levels can be accelerated through doing art integrated with core subjects such as math, social studies, language arts, and science. Considering this, coupled with the fact that in kindergarten we have the maximum ability to use art in learning, I believe that using art in the curriculum will help my second language learners and kinesthetic learners to make good connections to ideas. In my class we do many art projects each week. I would like to have an abundance of materials both usable and re usable at our disposal for creating and learning. I would like to have materials to create 3 dimensional projects and do printmaking and collages. I would also like to have a variety of brushes. My students are very excited about expressing their knowledge with art. I feel this will enrich their learning experience as well as their lives.
