it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Art in school is a powerful tool that helps children with the development of motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking, and inventiveness. And is also fun!
I want to provide my students with sketchbooks, and markers so they can keep their art projects organized, look at their artistic growth, and think of themselves as artists.
I use art in my classroom in many ways. Sometimes, we read and learn about the lives and work of famous artist such Georgia O'keeffe, Joan Miró and Frida Kahlo. We identify their most remarkable characteristics and then, we apply them on our own pieces. Other times, I integrate art with other core subjects. For instance, in science, we learned about light. I complimented this lesson with the theory of color. We had fun mixing colors and making color wheels and Newton Spinners while learning about the properties of light.
