Art and Literacy: Building an Art Classroom Library

Help me give my students an art classroom library of high quality texts to inspire them and help them learn new techniques they can use in their artwork.

My Project

I am single handedly building an art track at my school, in order to allow my most talented and interested students opportunities to learn more about art so they can pursue careers in the arts. Most of my students come to me for the first time as 10th graders with little to no arts education, and they have a lot of catching up to do.

The texts I am requesting will provide my talented teen artists with opportunities to learn about a variety of artists of color that they can relate to, to see high quality images of key artworks, and to research techniques and ideas that will help them as they develop their own art making practice.

This library contains books about artists from a variety of cultures and backgrounds, as well as books on specific techniques students want to learn. The cost of many books about art makes it impossible to build this library on my own. This is where you come in: please consider helping me provide these books to my students.
