My Students

Do your remember the first letter you wrote to your grandmother or a family member? Was it a fun learning experience writing your address and putting a stamp on the envelope? Mine was to my grandmother and I remember the phone call I received the night grandma received the letter. She was so happy.

My students are physically challenged and developmentally delayed.

Some have trouble talking because they do not have the vocal cord strength and others have difficulty with writing due to their disability. We use computers and iPads to do much of the students writing and for some the iPad is used as a speaking device. My students are mainly from inner city, low-income families.

My Project

I am doing a unit on letter writing. Most of my students need to use a computer to do much of their writing. I am looking for paper, ink and staplers. It will give my students the ability to print their work. Please help us to write letters and share the joy of learning.

I found the letter I wrote the to my grandmother many years ago after she passes.

It is a wonderful memory and I can still hear the happiness in her voice when she called me to say thank you for the letter. Please help me spread the joy of letter writing.
