Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am currently a new art teacher in the Bronx. The young artists are very diverse in their interests and future aspirations. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are exploring higher levels of art. Our student body fosters a sense of family and inclusion for all. Each day here is a new learning day with opportunity.
We are part of a larger school that accommodates inclusion students as well as those with physical needs.
I teach as a push-in art teacher for the high school. As my young artists explore through art they experiment and practice higher level thinking by utilizing their problem-resolution skills. My classroom is about inclusion and giving all students the opportunity to explore in the arts, as well as discover thought experimentation.
My Project
My ideal classroom would include all the basic materials that professional artists utilize so that my young artists explore a large variety of media. Moreover, through the utilization of the materials my young artists would also be given an environment where their creativity is facilitated.
A variety of art materials will help with student learning by giving them the ability to create art.
Specialty scissors and dot paints will be used for young artists who need assistance with fine motor skills and would like to create independently.
Aprons for excited young artists who love painting everything in conjunction with their paper. Drawing boards to give students a clean and flat surface area to create their art and potentially create art in the community garden. The brushes and the brush rack for the opportunity to work with paint and organize the brushes on a cart so that they maybe be utilized for the next class.
