Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Geography and current events are 2 subjects that students enjoy. With our busy schedule, we don't always have the time for these subjects in our classroom. With TIME For Kids/Around the World, students will be able to discover these subjects as independent learners. My students need 25 classroom subscriptions to the magazine TIME For Kids.
I teach a wonderful class of 25 third-graders.
They are excited, energetic and enthusiastic. My students love school, especially when they can learn about their world! They do not have many opportunities to learn about geography or current events at home (or at school) and I want to provide them the opportunity to explore these subjects in our daily class activities.
My Project
TIME For Kids is a weekly classroom news magazine that motivates kids to read and builds non-fiction literacy skills. Each issue of Time for Kids covers a wide range of real-world topics and themes kids love to learn about, including Current Events, Entertainment News, and Space News. My students are always interested in learning more about their world, and this magazine will really help them better understand their world.
With Time For Kids Around the World, my students will be able to explore new places around the world. The magazine and companion website celebrates the culture, people, landmarks and geography of places around the world through photographs, maps, diagrams, charts, folktales, language and activities. My students are always interested in learning about the many places that we read about in our language arts and social studies units, and this magazine will help them go beyond what our classroom materials cover.
Time for Kids will help my class learn about major events in an interesting and informative manner.
It will inspire my students to learn about and dream about all the places that lie beyond their own lives. Thank you for helping us bring this valuable resource into our classroom!
