My students need a Shure dual wireless microphone system to be heard over all our instruments when incorporating math into our music to turn STEM into STEAM.

My Students

My classroom is performance oriented with a stage, a full set of risers, and more instruments than you would expect in the average elementary classroom. We make music with our own hands and breath, and we do it well. I'm in my fifth year at this school, and in the time I've been here, my students have become multi-instrumentalists on the bass, mandolin, piano, and drums. Some students like to switch around between the instruments, while others have "specialized" and concentrate all their learning on just one. Either way is fine by me, as long as they're learning and enjoying music and school.

My Project

STEM is what it's all about these last few school years. Building, math, engineering. And when you can incorporate the arts into it all, it's a big STEAMing pile. A pile of learning and fun and awesomeness! This is what I always want for my classroom.

We need two SHURE wireless mics because have so many loud instruments that our student leaders have a tough time being heard over all the amps (and me hollering "YES, that's right" as I wave my hands wildly in the air, my slightly loose upper arms flapping in the breeze).

Ok, there's really not a breeze in my room. I don't even have windows, but that's not the point. I like to incorporate as many other subjects in my music lessons as possible. Math is super easy to seamlessly add to our lessons. Counting and subdivisions of the beat are of extreme importance to good music making. Kids can't always play AND count at the same time and they get horribly off beat. I try to have student leaders come up to count the beats, subdivisions and complex rhythms for the instrument players. But often they can't be heard. I have a sound system that these SHURE mics can be hooked into but no mics! Having this dual wireless system will make it simple for students to be heard in the music room leading our STE(A)M lessons in music and math. Watch out for the steaming pile though!
