Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students come from a Title I School (80% of the students receive free or reduce lunch) in a community rich with diversity. This group includes high achieving, gifted and talented students, English learners, and at-risk students. Many of our at-risk students have had disciplinary issues in and out of the classroom.

Our football team is comprised of an enthusiastic group of young boys and girls eager to learn about the sport of football.

They are willing to get out of their comfort zone (dodgeball, tetherball, handball) to learn about cooperation, teamwork, and the game of football.

My Project

Donations to this project will support a group of young boys and girls participating in football for the first time. The scrimmage vests and football flags will give these group of enthusiastic, novice football players an opportunity to play a team sport. With the purchase of these flags, students will be able to practice "tackling" by pulling flags rather than playing 2-hand touch.

It is our hope that we give these young athletes a glimpse into a team sport and foster a love of the game of football.

Many of these students have never played on a team before and therefore have never even put on a jersey. Give these students a chance to be a part of our team!
