This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher in a class of students classified with mental retardation in the North Bronx. My students are biologically the age of 7th and 8th graders, but due to their cognitive limitations, they function at a K-2 grade level. My students learn best when they can can see things firsthand and close up, and when they can touch and hold manipulatives that support the learning.
I would like to teach my students about ladybugs and allow my students to understand the lifecycle and life processes of the ladybug as part of our Spring science curricula. In order to do this I would like to order some materials to base the instruction around including some live ladybird beetles, a ladybug curriculum, ladybird lifecycle figurines, a ladybug land, and some picture books of ladybugs.
I feel that this curricula and materials will allow the students to learn in a way that will make the learning exciting and meaningful to the students. I would appreciate your help in purchasing these materials in order to study ladybugs in depth during the Spring.
