My Students
I work as a special education teacher in my school, currently in an Integrated Co-Teaching setting. My students fit in at least one of the following categories: special needs, English language learners, and/or low income households.
Throughout my years as a teacher in my school, I have learned that my students are mainly visual learners and get engaged with any color and visual materials.
The important thing we need to reach the students in my school is to get them engaged, to make the lesson fun, and to have accessible materials. Sometimes it is very difficult, being that they have little to no knowledge of the English language, have a disability that affects their learning, and don't have much access to equipment at home, such as a computer or printer. I always need to think "outside the box" to support and enhance my students' education.
My Project
Last summer, I successfully got funded for a color printer for my ICT classroom. It has been quite a huge success having a color printer at hand to not only make emergency copies of worksheets, but to print beautiful posters for the classroom and color handouts for my students' reference binders! Any visual aids provided for my students to gain a better access in their education were made possible thanks to the classroom printer! Overall, my students are very engaged with learning with the help of quick access to a printer AND color visual aids.
We are running low on stock and my students would love to continue to keep the printing momentum going!
We will need more color toner and more paper to keep it going! We constantly use these items on a daily basis and our stock runs out fast! By stocking up, we will be able to continue with our printing fun!
