Architectural Building in Art Class

My students need Magna-Tiles to aid in imagining structures and creating models for sculptures and three dimensional drawings.

My Students

I teach students in K-5 classrooms on a daily basis. These children are some of the most creative, energetic, and eager young people I have ever had the privilege of working with. I'm always amazed at how excited they are to learn and try new things.

The level of ambition, curiosity and interest I see in my scholars is immense.

However, I want to aid students in their desires and give them all the tools that will help their mental growth. This school is comprised of students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. With a little help however, there's no limit to what they can achieve.

My Project

I have seen Magna-Tiles in other art rooms via the internet, but am fully aware that this can be a costly addition — and one that is atypical of an traditional art budget. Coupling that with the fact that this school is in its founding year, and many of the alternate funding resources like PTA and/or art fundraisers have not gotten into full swing as of yet. However, I don't want to allow this fact to hold back my students from reaching their creative potential.

Imagine watching students design unique building structures in art class, to then draw their creation just as architects and engineers do on a daily basis.

My school is a steam-focused environment so this type of learning in art would greatly enhance my instruction and their ability to problem solve on the spot.
