Help me give my students this Aquaponics learning experience so they can grow up with some ideas on how to grow food and care for animals in a more sustainable, eco-friendly way.

My Project
Our school is located in a farming community. Students know a lot about traditional forms of farming, but they are not as familiar with newer ways to grow food. Aquaponics and hydroponics are 2 newer growing methods and will have huge opportunities for growth in the future. The goals of this project are to use student knowledge and interest, but to introduce them to a new way of "farming" or grow food. Additionally, students will learn about the cycling of nutrients through an ecosystem, and will have a better understanding of the NGSS standards that look at photosynthesis, respiration, and sustainability. Additionally, they will have the real-world experience of caring for living things (fish). The opportunities for real, authentic science experiments are endless when you have living things growing and thriving in your classroom.
