Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project is designed to provide special education students in 3rd–5th grades with a diverse and inclusive collection of books that highlight important awareness themes recognized in April. The selected books will focus on Arab American heritage, autism acceptance, Earth Day, and other awareness topics relevant to the month. By incorporating literature that reflects diverse backgrounds, abilities, and global issues, the project aims to foster a deeper understanding of different cultures, neurodiversity, and environmental responsibility.

Through engaging and age-appropriate stories, students will have the opportunity to develop empathy, appreciation for diversity, and awareness of the world around them.

The project supports literacy development while promoting discussions on inclusion, acceptance, and sustainability. By providing these books in special education classrooms, educators can create meaningful learning experiences that celebrate differences and encourage students to become more compassionate and informed individuals.
