Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When my students check the schedule each day, they cheer when they notice they have computers. In my room, there is an old desktop computer that they use for educational programs which emphasize reading, writing, math, and science skills. Unfortunately, it often freezes or stops communicating.

My students are eager to learn, and adapt quickly to using new materials and strategies.

They come from a variety of backgrounds, and speak many languages. They actively seek out resources to help them gather more information, and love to learn through play and exploration.

My Project

With a new mini-laptop, which can be easily stowed, more of my students can have a positive learning experience during center time, using the internet to hone skills and develop creativity. Instead of only two students, four can share this center, and it can run more up-to-date programs to enable scientific inquiry, art, literacy, and mathematics to be reinforced.

When students are active learners, they are more likely to seek more information and to retain and apply what they have learned.

In our technology-driven society, our young students face a brighter future when given various media to explore their world at an early age.
