My Students

So often, when technology is involved, you hear the phrase, "life altering." By incorporating more iPod Touch digital player technology into our classroom, we will be able to multiply the "life altering" effects for every student in my classroom.

The 7- and 8-year-olds I am honored to spend my days with are our future.

They are going to see, create, and dream things in their lifetimes that are not even a glimmer in their eyes right now. It has been said that half of the careers of the future have not even been created yet. As their teacher, it is my duty to expose them to projects and experiences that will enrich their lives and begin to prepare them for the future. After completing part one of this project, I have been absolutely amazed at the impact the iPod Touch digital players have on their daily learning experiences and we find new ways to utilize the technology in our classroom every day.

My Project

I am requesting two additional iPod Touch digital players so I can compound the impact we are already achieving. From apps that time students while they read in order to help them improve their oral reading fluency to apps that specifically support coin counting and phonemic awareness, we are seeing a difference. In the future of career readiness and common core state standards, speaking and listening are vital to student success. We are using the touch devices to make videos of small group discussions so I can review each group's discussions and plan my speaking and listening lessons accordingly. While I knew the possibilities were awesome, I learn new ways to utilize the technology in my classroom constantly and by having two additional devices, I can double the impact I have on my students every day.

By supporting this project, you will be helping me increase the number of devices in my classroom and double the impact I am already making through the use of the apps and other technology I am putting at my students' fingertips.

We cannot imagine what the future will hold, but the exposure to this technology will leave a lasting impression on my students forever!
