Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are a close knit community from a variety of backgrounds who have exemplified our school mission and emphasis on inquiry learning.
At our high school, an options school in the community, we want students to recover credits, but more, we want them to fall in love with learning, gain confidence and skills for the future, and we want them to have access to resources that will help them accomplish our goals.
Our students are motivated to graduate, and it is a great pleasure working with them.
My Project
Our school is a Linked Learning high school with a career theme of transportation. Students at Metropolitan High School are learning about career opportunities in transportation, concepts and how they connect to transportation, but are limited in opportunities to experiment with varying types of transportation in science classes. We want our students to not only make connections to transportation, but also to have opportunities to develop skills and experiences that allow them to apply their learning in real life. The car kits would be an opportunity to expand their learning and expand the connection to their career theme of transportation.
