My Students
I teach at an amazing school full of diversity. We have over seven hundred students and over one hundred are English as a second language students. One hundred are Advanced Program students, along with robust regular education and special needs programs. We are a fantastic school full of compassionate staff and students who want to make a positive difference in our community. I teach music to all students in the school with a focus on performance-based lessons that keep students actively engaged and creating music daily. I also incorporate technology through project-based learning which allows students to compose their own music, make professional recordings and create their own music videos. I am blessed and grateful to teach all of our incredible students!
My Project
Music education feeds the soul by providing a way for students to express themselves and connect with their peers through an enhanced understanding of art and the world.
Students will use the iPads to compose their own music and create passion project videos that feature their music compositions.
For students participating in the Virtual Learning Academy from home, iPads will be connected to my device so the screen can be shared and students can collaborate on music composition and creation using the GarageBand App. The iPad will also be helpful when I need to record virtual lessons or special activities for my students that require advanced editing options.
For students at "in person" school, iPads will be connected to the classroom screen for more collaborative composing and will be used individually by students for Project-Based Learning (PBL) activities focused on music and video creation using GarageBand and the iMovie app. These will be passion projects centered on using student compositions and videos for reaching out to the school community.
These iPads will be added to the two already in the music classroom with a goal of eventually having a classroom set.
