I have quite a differentiated group from well below grade level through students who are working hard and want to be challenged with the next grade level standards. My class this year has about four students well below where they need to be. These students are in need of spelling out words still and putting sounds to letters. I have four more students who are just about at the beginning of first grade level, four students at the current grade level and four who are ready to be challenged with second grade standards.
I know that if I had more technology in my classroom, each student could demonstrate their fullest potential at their pace and be more confident in whole group lessons.
In this area, there are parents who have not even graduated high school and cannot assist their students in academics; it is left all to the teacher. I want to ensure if I am not working with a small group, each student is engaged in rigorous activities that are fun and at the capability of the student. Teaching is all about the future.
My Project
I am in need of at least two iPads to work with Osmo, it is a great program that helps with the differentiated students and their individual capabilities in my classroom. The more technology I introduce to my students the more they will have success in school. The iPads will assist with the instruction and small groups for my students.
Osmo works with the iPad and on the Apple store are wonderful educational programs I can download.
The students can log on and work at their own pace for their own success. The iPads allow the students to meet their grade level expectations or challenge the students who are slightly above.
I can have students actively engaged in an activity and I know they are learning and having fun. I can also monitor their progress. I teach in whole group and in small group but to know they are actively engaged in a rigorous actively at their level is the best way to ensure my students' success not only now to help build their foundational skills but to ensure their confidence they have the ability to keep on achieving.
