The AR band needs your help.

We are asking you to help us with our pursuit of excellence. In a small rural school such as ours we often do not have the funding to get some of the many tools we need to help us continue to grow musically and achieve an excellent performance. As many of you know band students are extremely hard working. The students here at AR have consistently year to year improved in their performances. This year the repertoire of music is another step harder and calls for things such mutes and very precise tuning. These tools will help our students achieve masterful performance while learning the process of making a great sounding ensemble and the importance of those small details that make a HUGE difference!

My Project

This year my motto has been "When considering the consequences of NOT doing the small things, you realize there are no small things. It has driven me to push my students to continue to learn and improve upon every performance. I believe that these tools will help with that and spark the students in many ways.

First the tuners will help them listen, fix, and improve upon playing in tune.

It has been a fun project to teach the students the science of tuning but these tools are indispensable and great for helping an ensemble reach their full potential.

In addition the ensemble has improved each year and with that comes harder music. Many of our pieces now call for mutes to be used. This adds a very fun element to each piece of music when it is called for by the composer. The band is growing each year and the mutes are needed in virtually every piece that we play.

I believe these tools will help spark more intrigue, creativity, and curiosity not just in their instrument but music in general. It could lead one of our talented students into a successful career in music, or it could teach that future CEO, Doctor, or Teacher that you can always improve and grow and get better. I believe these tools will help the students understand the process of achieving your best.

My hope is that you view this a worthy project to help students learn that there is always something to improve upon. Thank you for your consideration.
