Eighty-seven percent of my students are from low-income households and many of them have to use public trains and buses just to get to school. Some even travel over an hour each way. My students are making an active decision to better their education by attending our school.
Our school is an honors for all high school, meaning that each of my students is in honors-level courses.
Not only do we cover honors level material, but we expect our students to participate in labs, activities, and think beyond the standard curriculum.
My Project
A major component of the AP Capstone courses (AP Seminar and AP Research) is conducting presentations about modern topics such as the environment, stem cells, race, freedom, etc. Each student is required to give multiple presentations throughout the two years in these courses.
One skill that is important to bettering their presentation skills is being able to watch yourself present and evaluate the positives and areas of improvement.
The video camera, tripod, and accessories will allow my students to be recorded during each presentation, then view it later and find areas of improvement.
