Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am looking for a generous donor to help bring alive the subject of chemistry to my inner city Los Angeles students.
Students get the most excited and the material comes alive when we perform labs. However, I cannot do many standard labs with my students because I do not have the materials. Instead, I improvise by using household materials.
When we study pH my students brew coffee and when they learn about the shapes of molecules we use toothpicks and gumdrops. I am hoping to develop a set of labs I can do with my honors chemistry class so that my students can experience high school chemistry the way it should be.
I am requesting a complete set of AP labs for use with my honors chemistry class (my future AP class). This will be so incredibly valued and appreciated in my classroom. Thank you so much for considering my proposal.
