This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you know the difference between metonymy and synecdoche? Can you analyze the novel's symbolism while making a connection to the author's purpose of the work overall? These are skills students in my AP English Literature class must master during the course of the year.
My AP English students are bright, motivated, and are often the first in their families to attend college.
They struggle with test prep for AP classes and SATs and lack the additional resources students in more affluent areas have access to.
My Project
For this project, I am requesting copies of the new Princeton Review guide for AP English Literature and Composition to be used in our AP English class this year. Without a doubt, AP English Literature is one of the most challenging AP exams for students, as it's based on analysis and writing rather than memorization of terms and facts. In the past two years, the College Board has changed some of the content of the English Literature and Composition exam and rubrics, making our previous resources obsolete. With these books, students will be able to review concepts, see sample essays and grading guides, and take practice tests. The books will be used in class to supplement lessons and familiarize students with the exam throughout the course of the year.
Students who excel on the AP English exam have the opportunity to earn free college credits, saving them time and money.
With your support, we can help students achieve success on the exam and in college.
