My Students

The first time doing anything can be difficult. This year is the first time I am teaching AP chemistry, one of the hardest classes a high school student can take. I want to give these students every opportunity to pass the AP test come May, but they need your help.

The students that are in this class are exceptional.

They work hard everyday to learn the difficult and often times frustrating science that is chemistry on top of taking a multitude of other difficult classes and being involved in school activities and sports. They have dedicated themselves to this class though. It requires them to give up time outside of class to do the lab work that is required. They come in for help on their lunch time and after school. They truly want to learn the information. Our school is not in the best area of town, but we are one of the best schools in town. Students come to our school for our academic programs. They are utilizing this school as their way to a bright future. Most of the students in the class I taught general chemistry to last year. They are a close knit group that acts more like family most of the time. It is a wonderful experience to be granted the opportunity to teach these students something I am so passionate about.

My Project

What we need are books to help the students study for the AP chemistry exam. We are working through our textbook through the year but the study books offer a great overview and resources like practice quizzes and tests. These books will be a great resource for years to come and I know they will be appreciated. Many of the students are seniors and they already have many expenses between college application fees, test fees and other things that come with senior year. I want to help them by lessening the financial burden a bit and giving them this resource. They will be checked out and returned for future use.

If these students are able to pass this exam it will put them closer to college and give them credits going into college.

In the competitive world we are now in with universities cutting budgets and enrollment this class can help them stand out and compete with other students. Please help these students get one step closer to their goals.
