This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
CALLING ALL FLUTISTS!!! As the trilling flute rivals that of a joyful bird, it is becoming a rare sound in my classroom due to lack of funds for our music program.
I teach music at a low-income elementary school where all students receive free lunch and hardly any students can afford to purchase or rent an instrument.
There was a recent vote in our district to cut spending for the arts by 50% next year and possibly by 100% the following year. Luckily, I am at a charter school that supports the arts but we depend on donors and other supporters to help with our music program. As we build our program, we are trying to add to the brass and woodwinds sections.
My Project
We have a few flutes but had to buy cheaper ones that are starting to break down due to constant use. By donating a sturdier flute, you are adding to the grand sound of our flute section, which will send out a beautiful sound of gratitude to our donors!
YOU may be able to put a flute into the next great flutist’s hand.
YOU will be able to give a child the opportunity to express and communicate the many emotions and statements that only music can. It's up to YOU. Thank you for caring about music education!
